The holiday season is here, and it’s time for one of the most treasured traditions of all: photos with Santa Claus under River Park Square’s magnificent 50-foot tree! Whether it’s your child’s first introduction to Santa or a cherished yearly tradition, we want to make sure it’s as magical as possible. Pics with your friends, office team and extended family are also encouraged! Here are our top eight tips to ensure a smooth, memorable, and joyful Santa photo session.
1. Plan Ahead and Reserve Your Spot
Skip the long lines and guarantee your spot by booking your session in advance. Check out our online reservations and secure a time that works best for you and your family. A trip in late November or Early December, or anytime mid-week, can help avoid crowds and lets you start on holiday cards earlier too. Don’t worry - if you’re feeling spontaneous, walk-up photos are typically able to be accommodated! Santa’s here through December 24.
Planning ahead also allows you to keep in mind special event dates. Blitzen Bash on December 7 offers added family activities and entertainment, Paws & Claus on December 9 lets you bring along your furry friend and Santa Cares on December 1 provides a calm, quiet environment for those with sensory or mobility issues. Parents may want to time a trip with Christmas Tree Elegance December 3-15 or Terrain’s BrrrZAAR on December 14.
2. Dress Festively, but Comfortably
Holiday outfits add a festive touch, but comfort is key, especially for little ones. Cozy sweaters, cute holiday pajamas, or a festive dress can all look great in photos, but be sure everyone can move freely and stay relaxed. Nordstrom and Gap Kids have a wonderful range of children’s attire and French Toast just opened on the third level for the littlest ones.
3. Save with STCU
Our Santa Set sponsor STCU offers its members a unique way to save $10 on photo packages- simply use an STCU credit or debit card at purchase on-site or online. To redeem the member discount online, enter the first six digits of your credit or debit card as the promo code. Thank you STCU!
4. Arrive a Few Minutes Early
Arriving early gives you and your family time to settle in and get comfortable before meeting Santa. This is especially helpful for children who might be a little nervous and need a few minutes to warm up. River Park Square offers attached, covered parking to make your trip easy from start to finish. You’ll easily find Santa on Level One in the main Atrium.
5. Have a Snack Plan
Bring a few quick snacks or small toys to keep the kiddos entertained while you wait for your session. Kid-approved snacks you’ll find inside River Park Square include Ben & Jerry’s, MacDaddy’s and Pete & Belles. Twigs and Nordstrom Cafe also have wonderful kids’ options. Rocket Bakery, Williams Sonoma and Nordstrom Ebar all have hot cocoa and cookies at the ready- yum!
6. Prepare a Wish List to Share with Santa
Adding a personal touch, like a small wish list, helps make the experience magical for kids and gives them something fun to share with Santa. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter if they’re feeling a little shy.
7. Bring Favorite Toys or Props for Personal Touches
Adding a special prop like a favorite holiday book, toy, or family heirloom can make your photos even more personal and memorable. Looking for inspo- head to Whiz Kids and LEGO!
8. Enjoy the Moment
The holiday season is busy, but take a breath, savor the magic, and make this experience joyful and relaxed. Make a day out of the Santa experience and add on a trip to Riverfront Park’s skate ribbon, paint gifts at Polka Dot Pottery, play a round of mini-golf at Flatstick Pub or enjoy a movie at AMC Theatres with IMAX.
Create a holiday memory to treasure for years to come with a Santa photo session at River Park Square. Book your visit today, and make this merry season unforgettable!
